Can You Have a Towbar Fitted While You're at Work?

If you want to have a towbar added to your car urgently, then you may have decided to use a towbar mobile installation service. These companies come to you to fit towbars so you won't have to find the time to go to a garage.

However, if you're busy, you may not have time to have the towbar sorted at home. Your boss is okay with you having this done while you're at work and has said that the company can do the work in your car park. What will the towbar installation company need for this to work?

Clear Access to Your Car

While the towbar only goes on the back of your car, the installation company will need space to work. They'll have their own tools on their vehicle and are likely to prefer to park up close to your car to do the job.

This may be tricky if you don't plan ahead. If your car is boxed-in in a full car park, then the company might not find it, never mind work on your car. So you may need to cordon off a couple of spaces or ask your boss if you can block off a quiet corner of the car park to create working space while the towbar is fitted.

Bear in mind that the company may not be able to do the job if the weather is bad and they are in the open. If the forecast isn't good, then it may help to find a spot to park your car that is under cover. The whole car doesn't need to be sheltered, just its back end.

Access to a Power Supply

Depending on the towbar you've chosen and any accessories that you want to add, the installation company may need access to power. In some cases, the company may carry their own portable generators on their van, in which case you don't need to worry about this.

However, if they don't have their own power source, then you may need to find a way to park your car close to a power point at work. The installation company can then run an extension cord to your car.
